Whitewater and youth are a Powerful combo

Group photo capturing Volunteers and the Youth

I had an amazing time at the Cowichan River youth kayak festival! It was so exciting to watch all the young kayakers tackle the rapids with such skill and confidence. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone cheering on their friends and celebrating their successes. The festival was very well organized and safe, which made it a great experience for everyone involved. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!

The youth came from all over to attend. We had people from Quesnel, Squamish, Chilliwack, Victoria, Brentwood Bay, Nanaimo, Parksville, and Vancouver. It was great to see so much excitement throughout the weekend.

The pool session was quite a chaotic experience.

It was a wonderful time connecting with the groups, and seeing friends from previous years. The improvement and stoke during the few days were noticeable. Always appreciate the organization of the event by Dan Norman of Brentwood College.

Here is to youth progression and more paddlers in the Sport. Thanks for the support of Northwest River Supply. Vancouver Island Whitewater Paddling Society also supported a few volunteers who had done the I2L2 certification with $100 bursary each. Look forward to seeing these paddlers progress over the next few years and getting out with them on the water.

Taking a moment to capture the exhilarating sight of the mass paddle down below Skutz Falls on the Cowichan River.
