I am reminiscing over a paddling weekend that I had at the end of July with Jakub Drnec up in Whistler. It was a glorious weekend, we had organized to meet in Nanaimo, grab a ferry and head up to camp near the Cheakamus river. The weather was warm, dry, and sunny. We were able to snap up a campsite even with a large yoga festival happening the same weekend.
We rallied to the Upper Cheakamus that evening pulling off the first of 8 runs that weekend. Jakub figured we managed to get our cost per run down to 22 dollars including beer. Not bad for a weekend of paddling some amazing rivers.
The next day we managed to get in laps on the Callaghan, Soo and Upper Cheakamus. It was a grand time before heading up to the Yukon for a month of Guiding.
