What I love about paddling and adventure on Vancouver Island

Winter time adventures between the last couple of weeks December and late March can be super fun. It is a dreary and potentially cold time on Vancouver Island. However the right conditions and willingness to get out there can make it quite brilliant.

With good flows through late December, to a dry, dry January. There were some ups and downs with different adventures. However, time spent on or near rivers is always good for the soul.

“A river is water is its loveliest form; rivers have life and sound and movement and infinity of variation, rivers are veins of the earth through which the lifeblood returns to the heart.” – Roderick Haig-Brown

Top – bottom – Millstone Falls, Puntledge Surfing, Copper Canyon , Adam River, then Browns Falls.

Some beautiful days teaching SRT for Raven Rescue from January through into March.
A few days of Bike adventures are a good way to get out and explore. These were along the Puntledge and Cruickshank watersheds.

Off island adventure with Jody Lownds and friends to a Ski lodge in the Selkirks. So amazing and many turns were had.

Lower Quinsam adventure with Scott on the last day of the winter.
