On Friday, late afternoon, of the weekend we started off with a Boater Cross race on the White Mile of the Illecillewaet river. This was to be followed by a beginner race (Huge Balls, tiny Rapid) on the town section .. check the photos below.
The first race involved hiking to the water town and then running the rapid a few times once you had registered and payed. The racing was fast and furious. Some interesting lines were had in the expert race as well as a couple of injuries. There was some excellent light in the canyon which made for some good photography after i was out of my heat.
Always enjoy chasing other kayakers down the river. Some fast guys and gals out on this section.
No, no, he didn’t bump you, he didn’t nudge you, he didn’t slam into you, he RUBBED you. And rubbin’, son, is racin’.

After the Expert event it was time for the beginner race with everyone participating in groups of 3-4. Huge inflatable balls were tossed into the river and the groups had to move them down to the bridge in town. Great event and the most laughs for sure.
