Big Mouth Creek, I downloaded a list of rives on the Paddling maps app. It was one of the 26 sections near Revelstoke, BC that was an option for paddling. Wasn’t sure that it would happen as it is over 100km outside of Revelstoke. However a few paddlers were around town for a paddling festival coming up in town. The level was looking low, but still good. Zack, Pollin, Carter, Tara and myself made the rally.

Arriving at the takeout with Zack, we met up with the others and drove the 13kms up the road to the put-in. It was a short bushwhack down to the river, through some massive devils club.

After getting on the water, the pace picks up shortly downstream. Over the next 13 km you get a section of excellent, continuous whitewater. Rapids like Big Bang (1st rapid), Big Bend, Big Gulps, Sneaky Weasel, and Big Horny keep you on your toes over the distance.
A group the weekend before had had a swimmer and the Blue stoke had disappeared downstream. Then we paddled around a corner to find it sitting out of the water, upright on the river left shore. It was a 50m hike out to the road with minimal rope work to get the boat out to where a car could pick it up. The stoke lives on for another run.

If your in the Revelstoke zone. Highly recommend checking out this section of river. Keep an eye out for wood.
