Millstone River, Nanaimo

Urban paddle

Two days ago we had a great run down the Cameron river, I had left my paddle at the take out. However, Shayne had grabbed it and now it was sitting in his shed. A good reason to go to Nanaimo, another was a chance to paddle the Millstone river which is a very short run but fun with a put in waterfall and three small slides down stream.

I was able to get in touch with Steve J. He was able to paddle over from his house on Protection Island and we headed up for a couple of laps in Bowen Park.  Summer came along to check out the run and was kind to take some photos with my little S90.

Lots of paddling going on this time of year with groups hitting the Gordon today and Granite creek yesterday. Look forward to hearing how those adventures went.

In the meantime here are a few pictures.

The rest of the run is quite short with a few small slides. Lining up for the one under the bridge.

  1. Hi,

I haven’t been down it in a while. However, it is easy to walk along and scout the section. It is usually good after a bit of rain.

    Cheers
