Lower Gordon, Port Renfrew

The Gordon river is  Located on southern Vancouver Island near the Town of Port Renfrew on the west coast. It is one of the classic rivers on the Island.

After a number of facebook messages and texts between Chase and Clay, I had decided to head out on Sunday morning along the winding coast road through Sooke onwards to Port Renfrew and finally along the logging roads of the Gordon river main line to the river. Heading out around 9ish after a evening birthday party for my cousin Ally, it was a bit of a slow start. My brother in law, Bruce, had whipped up a fantastic breakfast of eggs, bacon and great coffee. Coffee is my essential thing in the morning, a must have.

Coffee in hand, it was time to go. Driving out was good but took a bit longer as the road was windier than I had remembered. The logging road was in good condition, relatively speaking, eventually meeting up with the group at the put in trail head. 9 kayakers plus myself would make for a fun day. The river was at a lower flow but this section has some amazing scenery and great rapids.

Had been awhile since I was last down here, thanks to the UVIC kayak club for the paddle, good times and enjoy the photos.
