Day on the Cameron River

The Cameron river runs off the side of Mt Arrowsmith and flows down through Cathedral Grove into Cameron Lake. The main part is a 5km section with almost 50 drops ranging from fun chutes to stacked ramps and drops, all through old growth rainforest. This day myself and 6 other boaters were able to get in two runs back to back. Made for a very eventful paddle. Recently a few paddlers – Shayne, Chris and Corey, had cleaned out a bit of wood from the river. Made for a much easier time. Big Kudos to them. This is a great section to get on if you are on Vancouver Island. The gauge is visual with a marker just outside Cathedral Grove on the way to the pass. A good Level is 5.
