After another day of playing on the Chilliwack river doing Swiftwater Rescue, it was time to head off to #rambo country aka Hope, BC. The reason rambo comes up as this is where ‘First Blood’ was filmed in 1982. Having driven the Coquihalla highway a number of times, it was nice to finally drop into the section below the Othello tunnels. These five tunnels were built to accommodate the Kettle Valley Railway Grade which was built in 1914.
Meeting at the new bridge over the Coquihalla river in Hope, we set shuttle and headed up for the hike in. It is a pretty scenic hike, moss covered trees and amazing tunnels to hike through, however the way down to the river is sketchy… I would advise lowering boats to make life easier.
Great evening paddle, thanks to Adam and Tegean for coming out. Great fun as always to go for a paddle.
