Copper Canyon of the Chemainus

Over the last little while the rivers have been in on Vancouver Island. After getting shut down on the Copper Canyon section of the Chemainus river three times, Liam, Shayne, Corey, Steve and myself managed to get on at 25cms. The level was perfect for a fun evening fun. I decided to bring my wide angle lens and try to caputre a bit of a different perspective of some of the rapids, of course it was an evening run so didn’t get to many opportunities to get out. With me was a gopro 3+ silver, which has shown to be great at the low light shooting. Currently working through a bunch of footage and putting to getting a short movie of the run.

Arriving to meet the lads saw parts of Corey’s truck on the ground and Shayne loading up. We pilled the parts away so Corey could work on it later, then we were o our way. Steve and Liam had set shuttle, which made it a quicker drive to the river. The river was quite clean, it had had two high water events through it in the past couple of months.

Shayne had the unfortunate experience of breaking his boat on Headwall rapid, after a duct tape fix we were off to the last three rapids with Must run, Flume, and exit drop all run well.

Enjoy the pictures,
