Camping, Kayaking and Music – VKC festival report

Made it over to the Vancouver Kayak Club festival for the 2nd year in a row. This year I decided to go for both days and that was a very good plan. Arriving and leaving late both days made for some tired days…. though all worth it with lots of paddling both days.

The 1st day was spent eating a bit of breakfast, 2-3 cups of coffee, and then off on the bus to run the canyon section of the Chilliwack river. The bus had a small difficulty and we ended up running the classic in the morning. Great run with Erica and Jean-luc. The afternoon we headed off and ran the Canyon with Alison, Mike, Jason and a couple other fellows joining us. We decided to run the classic again as well to make for a rather long day on the water. Was fantastic to be out and enjoying the hot sunny weather that the Chilliwack valley had to offer.

The evening was filled with great with food, fires, a silent auction and catching up with some friends. Made some plans for the next day ….. a hopeful mission to Silverhope creek. Then there was the live auction, one gentleman got a great deal on this boat. Afterward we hit the dancefloor (read dirt) to dance our feet off to Shane Philip. Good times.

The next day  the plan came to fruition with a group of us heading off to Silverhope Creek. Will be doing a seperate post about that fantasic run.
