Adam river in January

Another January post, I know, I should have had these out awhile ago. However life gets busy, work takes over, adventures take over. Trying to get a few of these out over the next couple of weeks.

Enough of the procrasinating on this post.

This was from a Late January trip with Christian Rolston on the Adam Canyon run. The Salmon river gauge was at 50cms and we knew there would be a bit of water in the river. Taking my car and bike, made for a simple system and a dual sport day for myself. Nothing like a 8km pedal before a 8km paddle down a class 3-3+ canyon.

The adam starts off with some nice mellow rapids before finishing with five kms or so of great class 3-3+ rapids in a series of canyons. There is also one class 4 drop with a easy scout/portage on river left. Also makes a great spot for snacks #picinics

Below is a series of photos from the main event in the 2nd canyon, added fun with a tree running out from river left to right.

Whitewater is pretty amazing on this river, the finish is typical of the Island with a bit of a bushwack, a bit of steepness to a old abandoned logging road. Oh and don’t miss the take out as downstream though looking inviting has a stacked series of waterfalls that have been looked at and found to be a no go.
