A paddle down the Tutshi river

Last saturday I had the opportunity to paddle the Tutshi river near Whitehorse in the Yukon. Big thanks to Sean for driving and Kevin of Tatshenshini Expediting for the use of a boat. It was great to paddle with Luke, Jen, Kevin, Mike, Brendan and Sean.

The level, when I was there, was a bit below 2 on the river gauge – aka med/low {low/med}

We drove to just above the suspension bridge over the Tutshi. With a fairly short walk we arrive at the river. The weather was amazing with little fluffy clouds dotting a blue sky. The water was way warmer then I expected.

The First rapid came after a short warm up, I went with a bit of verbal beta from Luke and Brendan and after watching them disappear around the lip, I gave the line a shot which resulted in roll.

The next little while was fun bouldery section down to the Waterfall, No Show Off and Final Rinse. There are a few other rapids which i don’t remember the names of.

Over all, a fantastic day out. It should be on your list for sure if you head to the north. So much goodness.

Enjoy the Pictures,
